Investing in a single pass carton printer requires matching machine specifications to your actual production needs. Selecting too small a model creates bottlenecks as volume grows, while over-specifying wastes capital on capacity you will never use. Understanding the key selection dimensions helps you make the right choice for your current and future requirements.
We structure our single pass packaging printer range into two families: the Falcon desktop series for small format low volume use, and the Cobra industrial series for full scale production across five width options.

| Model series | Feed width | Printhead options | Primary applications | Typical customer profile | Optional equipment |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Falcon-491S / Pro | 430mm | HP A4 | Small cartons, samples, boutique packaging | Startups, print shops, small brands | Desktop stacker, roll-to-roll module |
| Cobra 691S / 900Max | 600 / 900mm | HP A4 / Fi1000 A3 | Small cartons, food boxes, e-commerce mailers | Small to mid-size packaging plants | Sheet feeder, auto delivery, roll-to-roll module |
| Cobra 1209S | 1220mm | HP A4 / Fi1000 A3 | Standard e-commerce boxes, shipping cartons | Mid-size carton plants, e-commerce fulfillment | Pre-treatment, high speed stacker, roll-to-roll module |
| Cobra 1800 | 1810mm | HP A4 / Fi1000 A3 | Mid-size corrugated boxes, appliance cartons, display boxes | Large carton plants, appliance packaging | Board feeder, stacking delivery system |
| Cobra 2500 | 2500mm | Fi1000 A3 | Large logistics boxes, heavy corrugated board, wide sheet | Heavy logistics, industrial packaging | Wide board conveyor, auto registration system |
When evaluating options, consider first your maximum carton width, as this determines the minimum machine size required. Next match production speed to your required daily output, balancing print quality and throughput.
Additional factors include printhead choice (HP A4 for value, Fi1000 A3 for higher resolution), ink compatibility, existing line integration needs, variable data requirements and future expansion plans. Every plant has a different mix of order types, so the optimal configuration balances these priorities for your specific mix.
All our single pass printers come with factory-validated ink formulations calibrated to the specific printhead and application, ensuring consistent out-of-the-box performance.
Applicability boundary: Single pass technology delivers the strongest value for multi-SKU, variable and short run production. For long run stable work with few design changes, conventional flexo may remain more cost effective.
If you need a personalized sizing recommendation and cost estimate, you can share your production details with our technical team for a tailored proposal. We also provide customization printing lines for tissue napkin printing and book edge printing lines.

A: The Cobra 1209S and Cobra-Max models are the most common choice for standard e-commerce shipping box production, balancing speed, width and cost.
A: HP A4 offers better value for general text and graphics. Fi1000 A3 delivers higher resolution and finer detail for premium display quality. But all depends on your printing size and deposit.
A: Print width is fixed at time of manufacture. It is generally better to select slightly more width than you currently need to accommodate future growth.
A: The Falcon series is designed for low to medium volume production and sampling, smaller size. For full shift industrial production, the Cobra series is more appropriate.
